Completed, or so I thought; Now in Rewrite: By The Hand Of The Maker:

By The Hand Of The Maker, a speculative novel (90,000 words). Presented at a time when our world is increasingly inhumane, when an algorithm of unknowable intent feeds us our thoughts, when a screen rather than the eyes of another being captures our gaze, when technological advances create uncertainty for our future, By The Hand Of The Maker asks us to examine our world and seek to balance our humanity with the modernity of our existence.

By The Hand Of The Maker, is set in a near future world designed and built by The Alliance Of The Descendants Of The Gods, known since the second century B.C.E., as The Foundation. The Foundation, faced with an insurrection at the hands of its ancient enemy reincarnate, resorts to its old ways and sends one of its Hunters to return Jessica, dead or alive, to the Maker. The Foundation’s leader, Maker Cray, wields a limitless power that fuels his hubris and thirst for adoration and hurls him headlong into Jessica’s trap. The ensuing struggle creates urgency and opportunity for both the Maker and Jessica.

The truth remains as it was at the onset of the war ten thousand years ago. Life is not a condition, it is a choice, and each of us has a responsibility to choose every day. To choose love or indifference. To choose self over abdication to unseen masters. To choose connection to others and spirit rather than abandonment. The Foundation is the wedge lodged between us and our truth. Jessica is the bridge to that truth. The Maker, through his actions, inadvertently gives Jessica a world-wide stage to ask each of us to choose our path. Which path will you choose?
